It wasn’t that long ago that Mark Gillespie and Dean Wilson came to Los Angeles with a dream. Or rather, with many dreams – their own and those of their respective clients, including Calvin Harris and Deadmau5 pre-superstardom.
Today, Gillespie and Wilson’s company, the Three Six Zero Group, has a roster of 40 acts and an office space next door to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, with whom they have a global strategic partnership. Like their name suggests, the team specializes in 360-degree deals, and the success stories speak volumes.
“We are proud of everything our artists do; they are all insanely talented and disruptive individuals,” Gillespie offers, singling out the moment Harris was announced as a headliner for Scotland’s 2014 T In The Park festival as particularly significant.
“He first played the show seven years ago at the bottom of the bill,” he continues. “Going back to Scotland is always really special, but to play the Saturday night headline slot will be a very proud moment as a manager.”
Earlier this year, HBO confirmed it had tapped Harris, Jay-Z and Will Smith to develop an EDM-themed comedy, penned by Trainspotting scribe Irvine Welsh. Expected to premiere later this year, it will be the first television project for Three Six Zero, with Gillespie and Wilson serving as executive producers.
“The last three years have been instrumental in the growth of the business, allowing us to go from being a two-man operation to a company that employs over 50 staff members across three time zones with 40 clients in a range of genres,” Wilson says. “We would like to continue that trend in 2014 and beyond.”
