Ever wondered what Daft Punk like to spin at home? Wrap your ears around this – Thomas Bangalter has just put together a 20-track playlist for online streaming service Spotify.
Spanning contemporary cuts from the likes of MGMT, Jai Paul, James Blake and Phoenix alongside Carly Simon’s 80s gem Why and Diana Ross’ I’m Coming Out, the playlist sure covers a lot of ground. Naturally, Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories collaborators Giorgio Moroder, Chic, N.E.R.D., Panda Bear, Chilly Gonzales and Paul Williams get a heavy airing too, with things wrapping up in style with an a capella version of Jackson 5 classic I Want You Back. Get stuck into it below.
In other Spotify-related news, Daft Punk have just clocked up over 100 million plays of Get Lucky on the online streaming service – the official figure stands at a mighty 111, 617, 013 spins. That is, of course, on top of the four million units the single sold in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States alone. So the bar’s certainly been set high for second single Lose Yourself to Dance, which is set to be officially dropped any day now. Yesterday, the Frenchies unveiled a one-minute preview of the clip for the Pharrell Williams collab’, which will be the first Random Access Memories track to get the video treatment ( Get Lucky was never given one). Bait your breath for the full thing.
