Last month, we marveled at just how extensive the 2014 BPM Festival line-up was. Now it just went epic with the ‘Phase 2′ announcement, which adds a long list of new players headed to Playa Del Carmen in the early days of January. The ten day marathon of parties curated by some of the dance music world’s leading labels and artists is exhilarating and exhausting just to look at on a poster. Joining BPM on its Phase 2 line-up are underground heroes like Adam Beyer, Derrick Carter, Jesse Rose and Pete Tong, who’s presenting his own All Gone Pete Tong bill.
This time ’round, a selection of parties will have two editions: Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream (January 4 & 11), Circo Loco (January 6 night and January 10 day) and Marco Carola’s Music On (January 6 day and January 11 night), plus special editions of Richie Hawtin presents ENTER. (January 5 day and night). Other labels involved in the madness include Innervisions, Drumcode, Bedrock Records, Cadenza, Wolf + Lamb and Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings.
Each January, BPM Festival stakes its claim as the ultimate destination music event on this side of the globe; one could almost consider it North America’s Ibiza for those glorious ten days and nights it takes place against the gorgeous beaches of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where attendees can escape the cold by flying south for the winter.
